We know when it comes to choosing a place to work you have many choices. At Icon Salon Spa our goal is to give you the very best working environment in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Business STUFF
Let's take care of some of the business stuff we need to have in place.
The salon is responsible for making sure that everyone has a current license.
We need the following:

Copy of Cosmetology or Appropriate Agency License

Insurance for malpractice $1 million coverage, salon insurance doesn’t cover independent contractors only general liability.
Are
Are you a FULL TIME RENTER or PART TIME RENTER?
FULL TIME is defined as any salon spa professional who rents their room or station by themselves and is entitled to work any time or day. Full time renters earn vacation and can earn up to 20% on commission retail sales.
PART TIME is defined as anyone who pays to rent their station for 3 days or less per week and pays a portion of the full rent as determined by management. Part time renters will be required to share their station with another part time renter as the salon fills up. We will do our best to accommodate the days each renter needs each week but there will be concessions that may have to be made at that time, in order to keep part time status. Part time renters do not earn vacation, and they earn a cap of 10% on retail sales. Part time renters may be asked to move their station if a full time renter requests that space.
The BASICS
RENT is due every Saturday. It is considered late if it is not turned in by Monday morning by 9 am. A 10 percent fee will be added if it is late. Rent invoices are emailed each week and can be paid by clicking the payment button and linking your bank account for payment. Credit card payments and other methods of payment are not accepted.
BEFORE OR AFTER HOURS ENTRY/EXIT AND ALARM PROCEDURE
The front doors are on a computerized system. Friday, Saturday and Monday front doors auto open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday doors auto open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday doors are locked, please buzz clients in (see instructions below) Doors are locked on certain holidays.
AUTOMATED DOORS
To enter the salon when the doors are locked use your 4 digit code followed by the # sign. Please do not give this number to your clients If you have clients that need to enter before or after those times you can release the lock by remote control. The remote is hanging on the water cooler behind the front desk. Press the remote until it lights up this will release the lock downstairs for a few seconds so your client can enter. They need to be right in front of the door when you release it, because it is only unlocked for a couple seconds.
ALARM
You will only need to use this information if you are the first or last person at the salon. There are two identical alarm keypads in the salon. If you are leaving through the downstairs front door use the keypad located downstairs. If you leave using the backdoor, use the keypad located near that door, but please make sure the front door is locked before you leave.
ENTERING

If you are the first person here the alarm will beep when you enter.

You only have 60 seconds to turn off alarm before it goes off.

Enter your 4-digit code on the key pad, then press the off key (which is the number 1 key).

Turn on as many lights as you can, by walking around and flipping the wall switches which will light the hallways and main areas.
LEAVING/EXITING
If you are the last one here

Make sure back door is locked (door by the kitchen)

Check patio doors

Make sure all lights are off (except large chandeliers in big room and lights outside of kitchen

Make sure all thermostats are set to 74 degrees (in the summer months) and fans are on auto

Enter your 4 digit code on the key pad (closest to the door that you are exiting from) then press the away key or number 2.

You have 60 seconds to exit the building

Check to make sure the door is locked behind you.
RECEIVING CLIENTS
The reception area will notify you on your cell phone by text message when your clients arrive unless you give us other instructions. The front desk hours are Tuesday – Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m Friday, Saturday, Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
COMMUNICATION
We use CREW app that can be downloaded from the app store for Android and iPhones. Be sure to have your notifications on for After Hours (if you work late on a regular basis) and Announcements. This is the main way management gets information out to everyone and it is your responsibility to read it so you are informed.
WORKING LATE
The main door must remained locked when the front desk is closed. This is for your safety and the safety of your clients. Also, Please post on 'After Hours" on the Crew app if you are working late to let others know not to set the alarm when they leave.
PETS
We love pets BUT only certified service animals are allowed in salons and spas in Nevada. The fine is $1,000 for the first offense and goes up by $500 for additional offenses. Please tell your clients to leave their pets at home and please don’t bring your pets in while you are working.
CHILDREN
Please don't bring in your children while you are working. We understand it is difficult to arrange child care sometimes, but we don’t have enough space for children to sit and wait while you are working.
STATION APPEARANCE AND CLEANLINESS
In an effort to maintain clean continuity throughout the salon we ask that you keep your station neat, clean and free of an abundance of personal items. Please wipe down your shelves and station at least once a week, if not more often if necessary. Our cleaning staff is not responsible for cleaning your station. However, if you want to pay cleaning staff directly to do this for you that is an option. Please clean out your shampoo bowl and chair after each use. And do not let color bowls sit in the utility sink. Any items left sitting will be tossed out. Remember other stylists have to use the same areas so please be courteous to your colleagues. Please do the same in the break room after making or eating food. The refrigerators are cleaned out every Saturday afternoon. Any food left in there will be thrown out along with any containers that they are stored in.
COMMUNICATION
We use the Crew app for the iPhone and android phones to communicate with the entire staff all at once. You can mute conversations if you are bothered notifications on it. Please check it on a regular basis for important messages from management. You will be sent an invitation to join once you start working with us. Only use this method for salon business and not for socializing
PARKING
Please park your vehicle in the back of the building on busy days so our clients can have easy access. Moving your car to the front of the building during the evening or if staying late is suggested.
SEATING
Our white couches are for clients who are waiting to see their salon spa professional. Please be mindful when waiting for your clients to arrive or while in between clients. Be sure not to hang out at the front desk or sit in areas designated for clients to wait. Black benches and dryer chairs are for clients to use while their color is processing if you can’t keep them in your chair. Please do not use other stylists stations even when they aren’t here.
SOCIAL MEDIA
We have a salon facebook group (Icon Salon Spa Family Group) just for staff as well as a public Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account. @iconsalonspa on all accounts. Our website is iconsalonlv.com we would like to take your photo for the website and list and pricing or services for you. If you are interested in posting photos of your clients we have a halo light for you to use located to the left of the spa area.
SALON ASSISTANT
Tania Cerritos is our licensed shampoo technician. She gives an amazing shampoo and is available to assist you for $3 per shampoo, $5 for rinsing out color.
TOWELS
Grey towels are for the manicure/pedicure area, white towels are for haircutting and bleaching. Black towels are for hair color. These rules keep our towels looking their best. We are slowly getting rid of all white towels and will go to all black bleach safe towels.
SALON ROBES/SMOCKS
Salon robes are located in the white cabinet in the hall behind the front desk. If you want our staff to wash your capes make sure your name is marked clearly somewhere on the cape with permanent ink. It is difficult to get the capes back to the right person without this.

SUBLETTING
Subletting of your station/room is not permitted without permission from management.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR
As an independent contractor you are responsible for your own pricing structure, collecting payment for your services and reporting and handling your taxes.
Your BENEFITS
VACATION CREDIT
Full time renters will receive rent credit after working with us for one year and beyond as follows; after one year you will receive one week rent credit per year, after three years you will receive 2 weeks rent credit and after 5 years you will receive 3 weeks rent credit. Vacation credits must be used every year or they expire.
REFERRAL REWARD
You will receive one week rent credit for referring a new full time renter, after that renter has worked at the salon for 60 days.
CREDIT CARD PROCESSING AND CASH HANDLING
We suggest that you use an application on your smart phone or tablet to process credit cards. Due to complex accounting issues we cannot process a credit card transaction for you. Also, please make sure you have adequate change for your cash clients. We only have a limited amount of change in our cash drawer. There is an ATM available in the salon if your clients need to get cash.
RETAIL COMMISSION STRUCTURE
Renters who do not sell their own products, can earn commission when their clients purchase items in our reception boutique. Commission reports are processed by the end of each month. Commissions are given in the form of rent discounts.
Commission is based on monthly retail volume as follows:
$200-$799 earns 15%
$800 or more earns 20%
